There‘s a killer on the loose. The setting is New Hampshire, 1760. Matthew Harper was playing what he thought was a friendly game of chance. He lost. Newell Thornton won with loaded dice. He murdered with great relish.
Present Day: A killer is on the loose. He lures his victims in with a friendly game of chance that leads to their death by torture.
Thornton Inn is a restaurant. The descendants of Newell still own it. Zach Harper is the manager. The locals believe the Inn is haunted. Zach would like to buy the Inn and reestablish it Harper’s name. Could the rumor of ghosts come from hearing the screams of torture?
J.W. Coffey is a name well known in the world of horror. I do not read horror often. I picked this book up when I discovered Coffey is from Kentucky. I try to support Kentucky authors. I had no idea what to expect. Coffey is extremely talented and capable of scaring the pants off of you! I could not put this book down. I stayed up all night and read. I was terrified and intrigued, both at the same time. There are twists and turns. The characters are life like and likable. The pace is fast. Coffey successfully moves in and out of time effortlessly. The descriptions are vivid and bring the book to life. I could see this book unfolding before me.
