Book Review  "Missing Andy" is an unusual love story. Author, Lori A. Moore, and her ex-husband, Andy, were best friends. They had a better relationship after their marriage ended than during their marriage. They went places together and always knew they could depend upon each other. Andy died unexpectedly, leaving Lori grief stricken. "Missing Andy" is her journey through grief.
This book is actually about three amazing people: Lori, Andy, and her husband, Michael. Not every man would be receptive to the lasting friendship between his wife and her ex-husband. Not all divorces end with friendship between ex-spouses. Lori demonstrates Christian love throughout her book.
In a nut shell, this is a book about Christian love. I found the message heartwarming. Dealing with grief is another lesson within these pages. Andy was a very blessed man to have had a friend like Lori and vice-versa.

`Missing Andy' by Lori A. Moore is a well written story that gives you an unusual view point in grieving the loss of a loved one. Lori puts her grief, and how she handled it, in this heartfelt story. Not only that, she does it from the view point of someone most people never consider, the ex-wife. Lori shares her pain and the unexpected events that were caused by Andy's death in a way that shows her faith, love, strength and, yes, her weaknesses. With her love of God and the strength He provides, along with the support of her husband, Lori allows herself to grieve. Lori shows that it's okay to cry, to grieve, to mourn and to do it at your own pace. The dreaded words, `it'll get easier as time passes' isn't what `Missing Andy' is about. It is about learning to deal with the loss and to come to terms in your own way and by continuing to honor your loved one's wishes...It's about love. I recommend this book to anyone that has suffered loss of a loved one; it just might be what they need.

Lori A. Moore was kind enough to send me a copy of Missing Andy this summer, although she did not ask me to review it. Missing Andy is a beautiful tribute to Andy, Lori's best friend. It is also a testimony of Lori's journey from grief to joy, how she worked through the stages of grief, and the unique perspective she has about Andy's death and the events surrounding it. If you're looking for help in the grieving process, Lori has been there. Missing Andy offers hope and encouragement!

This is a quote that Lori Moore uses it in her book, Missing Andy, and I think it pretty much sums up the message that she tries to get across to her readers. Missing Andy is a memoir that pulls the reader into a pretty unusual situation. Andy was Moore's ex-husband-but also her best friend. Even after Moore remarried, Andy remained a huge part of her life. They would talk almost every day and spend most of their time together. When Andy dies suddenly due to surgical complications, Moore finds herself in the midst of grief and family drama. How will she be able to keep peace in the family? More importantly, how will she be able to cope without her best friend in her life? A quick read, I recommend Missing Andy for anyone needing an inspirational story to help them overcome their own grief.

I read this book in a matter of hours. I could not put it down. Lori has a way of letting you into her skin. I could feel her hurt and see her love for someone who truly made a difference in her life.

This book illustrates how important certain people are in our lives and just because they are an "ex" does not mean that they are not cherished. Lori writes about the death of her ex-husband with loving clarity concerning her emotions and how she dealt with the loss. It is the story of three remarkable people - Lori, her ex-husband and her current husband - and how their faith sustained them during difficult times. It is a wonderful read for anyone who has ever dealth with the loss of a loved one.

"A Journey From Grief To Joy," the subtitle for this book, describes exactly what the book is about.
The author, Lori A. Moore, tells about her friend Andy and his salvation journey. It is told in a loving and open manner. As she recounts her interactions with Andy she is very candid and you feel like she is sitting right there talking to you.
I liked how she placed scripture at just the right places. The writing style was easy to follow. Although the book is about the death of a friend it is not sad or depressing. It is definitely worth reading.

The Andy of Missing Andy was Lori's second husband. Lori's current husband, Michael, notes in the foreword, "Lori and Andy were better friends than they were each other's spouses" (12). Though they were divorced, Andy remained friends with Lori and also became Michael's friend.
Lori goes back to when she first met Andy and thought she would never like him. Their first date was disastrous, but a few months later, they resumed the relationship and within five months they married. They stayed married for twelve years until problems they could not overcome led to their divorce. After the divorce, their friendship grew better than it had when they were married.
She describes the complications that led to Andy's death and her feelings that followed. She deals with grief, questions, pain and finally joy when the bad feelings passed and she found comfort in God and knowing that Andy was with Him.
Lori concludes with some comforting Psalms. A good book for those dealing with a loss. Simple and straightforward, easy to relate to, even for someone who hasn't lost a close friend.

I won this book of Goodreads-Firstreads, and did enjoy it. While a very short read, taking less than an hour, Moore shared some personal and deep religious insight into the uncommon relationship with her ex-husband, and her sense of loss at his death. While I wish she would have had a little more 'spiritual depth' she does a fantastic job sharing key religious points to the loss of a loved one and finding joy again.

Everyone has a unique experience with grief following the death of a loved one. Lori Moore's personal journey through death and grief is certainly no exception. Missing Andy will allow the reader to sometimes relate and maybe even smile in amazement while turning the pages. The dynamics of the relationships involved are equal parts refreshing and unusual. Nonetheless, Moore's strength is in her authenticity and ability to share her story.
