In book two of Lynn Dove's Wounded Trilogy, Heal The Wounded, the author takes the reader once again into the lives of the families from the first book as they struggle with their own set of problems. Each teenager is still trying to cope with the death of Ronnie; they all have a healing process to go through as their faith is tested to the max. Jake's family is facing his mother's fight against cancer, while Leigh's family is displaced due to a fire. Leigh and Jake's relationship is tested. Ronnie's brother, Tim, has his own demons to face. Being bullied at school causes him to become self-destructive. There is one special character in this second book that I would like to think of as a little guardian angel: Cassidy, a five year old living with her grandmother, who seems to bring a smile to everyone in the hospital and helps bring a healing process to Tim.

As with the first book, there are many issues dealing with the teenage years and family issues. Each character fights to hold onto his faith in the midst of many upsets and trials. Not only is this a book for teens but also for adults. In today.s world, it's such a busy life that parents seem to ignore the warning signs of their teenagers. I recommend parents and child alike read this book.

Look for the final installment "Love The Wounded" in 2011.

Dove continues to portray her teen characters honestly and realistically as they deal with a variety of upsets that cause them to question their relationships and their faith. Dove brings to light the awful consequences of bullying.
Like in Shoot the Wounded, Dove does not shy away from addressing those social issues that teenagers deal with daily. This is a book that must be read by adults, parents and teens themselves. It opens up open dialogue about contemporary issues that must be discussed within families. Bravo! 5 Stars all the way!

Heal the wounded was more then just a another book to me. This book was more of personal encounter. I love the way that she writes, her writing is so creative and she tries to connect with her audience, which she did. I loved this book, she wrote it on personal things that actually are happening in our world today and it's good to know that when you read this story we're not alone, people are going through the same stuff. It relates to the youth and the teenagers and it's one of those books that personally I just couldn't put down!!!!

One of my true passions is study of 19th Century Christian thought. It is a broad and sometimes complex area of study that goes far beyond the scope of texts and academic research. Much of that century and the movements in society at that time are reflected in the literature produced outside the academic world and even the church. Writers such as Emerson provided profiles of social ills and the transition of thought in Christendom as the wants and demands of a growing nation unfolded. Indeed, much can be gleaned from many of the writings published in that century. This theorem holds true for literary works of today as well. Among the printed word published in this time is a trilogy of works by Lynn Dove that undoubtedly reflects the social pressures and issues that face people today. The series of books provides an uncanny reflection of our Christian culture and the thought behind the faith that guides everyday actions. I can think of no better source for insight into the very heart and minds of Christians as they come to grip with the realities of the world and the often complicated ways we interact with others. These three books “Love the Wounded; Heal the Wounded; Shoot the Wounded” would themselves serve as a text for the study of ourselves as much as any social-psychology text available. In many ways this trilogy of keen observations in humanity is become a source for my own reflections as a Christian and as instructive in the perplexities that seem to perpetually develop in that walk. Although works of fiction, these compositions provide a great deal more than entertaining plots and characters; they become so engrossing that ones natural curiosity and emotion begin to dictate a ravenous desire to read every word savoring the experience throughout.
