WOW is all I can say. THIS is an amazingly frank and revealing book into what drives us into a pit of despair and better yet, Beth has been there and through God's anointing has been able to relive her experience and how God showed her the way out of each pit. This book is changing my life and I am not kidding here. I am still climbing out of my pit, and will not get get completely out until I finish this entire book and learn how to get out....the RIGHT way....God's way....so I don't fall into another one. Don't despair if you are depressed. Read this book! This book will help you like none other. Forget the self-help books folks, Beth is on target here. Thank you Beth and may God continue to bless your writing!

This book is a great tool for breaking the pattern of defeated living. I think it's most effective when combined with author Beth Moore's other books such as Breaking Free and Believing God. This is an encouraging book and gives a real plan for getting out of the pit of defeated living.

I liked this book so much that our weekly Bible Study group is now studying it. It's thought provoking, revealing, encouraging and fun to read. I've recommended it to lots of the people I know and I'd recommend it to you too. We are meant to live free and abundant lives. Get Out of That Pit!

Whether you are currently in a pit of your own making or have been tossed in a pit via the wrongs of someone else or just difficult life circumstances, this book is such a wonderful tool to help keep your eyes on God through it all and to "get out of that pit". This is the third Beth Moore book I have read (the first was When Godly People do Ungodly Things and I am ongoingly reading Praying God's Word Day by Day)and she is such a blessing--accessible and solid.

This book helped me to change my life for the better. If things don't seem "quite right" in your life, you need to read this book. It can help you too! I have heard that Beth Moore is a good writer and speaker, now I can agree.

Because women are relational, and can easily fall...or be pushed...into a pit of hopelessness, I think every woman should pick up a copy of this book to see that God does not want us in a pit, and will readily help us out if we so desire. He knows that we can not be effective, creative, powerful witnesses for Him down in a dark, lonely pit.
If you're struggling to survive in your own pit, pick up a copy of this book and discover from God's Word how you can escape the damp, darkness of your slimy pit and thrive in the fresh air and glow of God's love!

I devoured Beth Moore's most recent book and then bought several to give away to friends. I'm meeting weekly with nearly 40 women who are discussing it chapter by chapter. We're preparing for her nation-wide LIVE simulcast February 24 when she'll spend several hours on the message of this book. I'd recommend this highly for anyone who's ever felt "stuck". Beth speaks from personal experience in a style that assures the reader that she's been there/done that. It's a vital message for women and men.

I read 5-10 books a week, every week. This is one of the best books I have ever read. Moore is captivating from page 1, she speaks clearly and honestly, there is no 'huh? what does that mean' in this book at all. She clearly takes us through scripture, enabling us to get ourselves out of situations, whether we put ourselves there or another did. No one will be dissapointed in this book, truly it is a great one that I believe God led her to write!

Another great book by Beth Moore. In this book Beth takes you on an introspective journey and gives straight talk to bring you from despair to deliverance. She pulls no punches and candy coats nothing. You will face your own sin, see the need for repentance, and be required to forgive those who've wronged you, but by doing this you can break the cycle from hopelessness, co-dependant relationships, and other destructive living. The book is well written and easy to read. There are review questions in the back of the book that could be used on your own or for a group study. These questions force you to dig deeper into your own life and thought pattern and lead you ulitmately to God, true freedom, and how much He loves us no matter our past. He wants us to live in deliverance - He wants the best for us. Beth shows Biblical proof because we often either don't believe it or think we don't deserve God's best.
I might have given this book 5 stars, but I gave it 4 because I was hoping it would deal more specifically with depression. It does not address depression in and of itself, but it does point to factors in our life that maybe aren't the direct cause of depression, but that contribute to the depth and duration. Through this book I have realized that depression has spiritual components as well as physical. Get yourself right with God. Your depression may not go away, but you can have peace even in the midst of it. I love how Beth uses Psalm 40 as the basis of the book. It is most excellent as are many of the psalms in seeing that God's people can be in despair, but they still "hope in God" and that is the key. Don't ever give up hope in God.

Beth Moore's "Breaking Free" was a catalyst God used in my life to rid me of life-long depression. I'd thought it was my thorn for life. "Get Out of that Pit" further solidifies her magnificent Bible teaching. I highly recommend all Beth's work!

Until I read this book, even though I'm a Christian, there were many strongholds in my life -- some, long-established areas of bondage -- that I was convinced were inescapable. I decided there were just some things I'd never be able to accomplish, faith or no faith. I felt defeated in a variety of areas.
Beth Moore has provided the way out using Scripture. This is not HER formula; this is God's formula. Every aspect of the deliverance process has its corresponding reference in Old and New Testament Scripture. Beth just does us the favor of putting it all together for us.
How did she know how to do it?
She's been there. This book is written by a woman who has been in the pit -- repeated times -- and has found, through Christ, LASTING deliverance.
If I had unlimited money, this would be the ONE book I would buy for every person I care about. It may well be THE most useful Christian book I have ever read and ever will read (outside the Bible itself). If you let Him, Jesus will deliver you and transform your life through this book.
God bless you!
Holly
