Egg-Napped: The Adventures of Eddie the Egg is an exquisite children's book written by Jon-Paul McCarthy. In the quirky world of Leftover Land, the food magically comes to life and this is where our story begins with Eddie the Egg. Eddie is no ordinary egg, though, for he is the true hero in the world of Leftover Land. His friend, Fried Francis, has been egg-napped by a sinister sausage named Sizzling Cecil, along with his evil sidekicks. Eddie sets out on his journey to Mash Potato Castle to save Fried Francis. Along the way, he must battle obstacles throughout Baked Bean River, the Sizzling Bacon Desert, the Swamp of Angry Sausages and the Giant Mushroom Jungle. Will Eddie be able to use his Eggsterminator gun and save Fried Francis in time?

Jon-Paul McCarthy does a wonderful job in piecing this play-on-words children's book together. The `egg' puns used throughout the book make it unique and set it apart from other children's books. Children of all ages can easily comprehend this story, and the plot flows nicely. The illustrations are unique and colorful, making the food characters literally come to life in a creative way. I read this book to my daughter, and she laughed at the characters and the fun wording throughout. She thought it was just a great book and could easily imagine the foods coming to life in her own kitchen and having their own amazing adventures. This lead to a fun discussion about foods and the funny pun words we can use to describe them. This is definitely a creative and delightful book that children of all ages will enjoy.
