Book Review As a child, G. D. Garner grew up amidst poverty. Perhaps that was the driving force that sent him on the pathway that he trod. He and his wife devoted everything to their work but nothing to each other. He realized that his life was empty, that he longed for more. Only after he lost all of his material wealth did he begin to perceive what was missing. Garner set out on a trip that would take him to seven continents. He and Heather, his significant other, traveled to places most of us only dream about and met people that we can only imagine. Greg learned many lessons on his journey, such as preconceived concepts are usually untrue and friends can be found in the most unlikely places.
Greg Garner shares his adventure and his artwork with readers in Through The Eyes of Madness. As if the fascinating journal of his life was not enough, the magnificence of the photographs left me awestruck. The bright and vibrant colors captivated my attention and will long stay with me. Greg shares his voyage with humor and intelligence. His travels take him from the Yucatan, to Panama, to Nepal, to Cambodia, to Australia and New Zealand. He lived and worked alongside the locals. He faced danger, death, and violence; he climbed mountains, faced scorpions and monkeys. Most importantly, he found a mission. He discovered a purpose for his life.
This book was written to raise money for seven families, on seven different continents. It is his desire that we help others. With the assistance of experts, he has developed a secret code. He promises a great treasure to the one that breaks the secret of the code. I am unsure that any treasure can surpass the one in this book. This is a fascinating look at the world through the eyes of Greg Garner. I highly recommend this book to everyone. |

This book is amazing, the cause is amazing, and the art/photography is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I really enjoy the puzzles, and the treasure hunting.
It takes a man with a great sense of adventure, and a great big heart to do the things G.D. Garner is doing with this book.
One of my best purchases of 2007.

This book was a great read. The author brings to life the world as he sees and experiences it. It has depth you can't help but get caught up in the book. I felt compassion but also was awe at how people who appear to have nothing have so much more than perhaps a person of extreme wealth. You can't help but feel connected to the people described in the book as well as the author and his companion. The beautiful photos and artwork through out the book help to bring this journey to life. This is a book not to be missed but enjoyed from the first to last page.

What's in a name.
I got this book by accident thinking it was a book on the clinically insane. Much to my surprise it turned out to be one of the most fascinating non fiction books I have ever read.
This book is not what it seems. It seems like one of the best adventure books ever written but it is actually so much more. The levels to this book are never ending. It is like peeling an onion only to find another onion inside. The rich texture and artwork make you feel like you are holding the authors journals in your hand and the journey is both epic and moving.
You never know where the next clue to Garners mystery will turn up and this book may just be about the clinically insane after all.
A completely satisfying experience. I can not wait for the sequel.

It only took reading the book's prologue for me to completely commit to following the author through his journey. The perspectives on geography, culture, and humanity were vivid, enlightening, and entertaining. The artwork and photography included alone has value way beyond the asking price. I've dreamed of traveling the world. I can only hope that I would receive the experience a fraction as well as the author. Add that part of the proceeds from the book benefit children's charities makes this book a must buy!

I have to say, being an avid book reader, this book was truly a wonder. This is a book for everyone who is interested in travel, adventure and buried treasure. It has 40 amazing chapters of travel stories from around the world. The stories themselves are so well written and it amazed me they are all true. Also, inbetween each chaper you get to see full color artwork and photography that the author has taken from all over the world. In addition to all that, GD Garner has actually hidden clues inside the book that lead the reader to a buried treasure! The clues are hidden on all 7 continents as well as online and the reader can use the book and website to uncover the buried treasure! This book is really an amazing and unique experience for every reader. It is an absolute MUST READ for anyone interested in travel, photographgy, or just really amazing true stories. I highly recommend this book as a next purchase for your book collection.
