Writing healing fiction that makes people laugh while they are changing their lives
Charlotte Babb began writing when she could hold a piece of chalk and scribble her name--although she sometimes mistook "Chocolate" for "Charlotte" on the sign at the drug store ice cream counter.
When her third-grade teacher allowed her access to the fiction room at the school library, Charlotte discovered Louisa Alcott and Robert Heinlein, an odd marriage of the minds. These two authors have had the most influence on her desire to share her point of view with the world and to explore how the world might be made better.
In the meantime, Charlotte has fallen prey to steampunk and the gears are turning...corset, and bustle and magic, oh my!
She brings to any project a number of experiences, including work as a technical writer, gasket inspector, cloth store associate, girl Friday, and telephone psychic.

The realm of Faery is in trouble and Fiona Silverthorne, Fairy Godmother Superior, thinks she might have a plan to save it. The thing is that she is the only Fairy Godmother still working, all the others have disappeared into their own stories. So she decides to train proteges for the job with the hope that one will take over. Her first choice is Maven Morrigan, from the land of Mundane,(what people from Faery call the place where humans live) a fortiesh woman who is out of food, money work, with no job prospects in site. Maven is so far down she has no idea what to even wish for anymore. Her second choice is Tulip, a young girl who has been her assistant in Faery. Maven quickly learns that being a Fairy God Mother isn't as easy as just granting wishes, especially when the land of Faery is about to disappear. Are Maven and Tulip cut out to be Fairy God Mother's? Will they figure out a way to save the land of Faery?
Wonderfully interesting characters allowed me to get lost in the pages of this story. I found myself totally wanting Maven to get right, but instead of doing things the way Fiona wanted her to she had her own ideas. It was interesting to see the twists her ideas put on the old fairy tales. Her modern ideas and twists on the fairy tales often rubbed Fiona the wrong way, and had me wondering if Maven might get kicked out of Faery. I loved the differences between Maven and Tulip, Maven seemed sort of street tough,who was often funny,whether she meant to be or not, while Tulip seemed full of hope. The Twilight Lounge was quite an interesting place where no one was really what they seemed.
Fans of fantasy will certainly enjoy reading "Maven Fairy Godmother:Thru The Veil." A fast moving plot, and the many characters certainly kept me interested in this story, but what kept me reading was the adventures that Maven and Tulip experienced as they were in training. I also had to know if they would make the grade as Fairy God Mothers and whether the land of Faery would be saved.
While there were a couple of instances of sexual innuendos, overall this book was a very clean read,one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to teens and adults alike!
