Blame It On the Moon is an LGBTQ romance by Diane Michaels. Emily Campofiore, a twenty-three-year-old MBA student from Wharton University, travels to Oregon with her grandmother to witness the total eclipse. In Oregon, Emily meets Luzma Perez, a mental health counselor with whom she soon develops a close friendship. However, after Emily and Luz share a kiss, a panicked Emily returns home with her grandmother and is set to join her father's investment firm as an analyst. Now, Emily is dating her colleague Chet Slater while trying to focus on her career. But fate intervenes, and once again, Emily crosses paths with Luz, rekindling her feelings for Luz. Will Emily allow herself to be happy? Can she be honest with herself about what she actually wants?

Blame It On the Moon is a captivating LGBTQ romance that touches upon themes of love and identity while showing how preconceived notions force people to act against their nature. Diane Michaels has written an absorbing character-driven drama that not only entertains but also gives readers a lot to think about. The author paces the plot deliberately, ensuring readers connect with the characters and have a firm grasp on their motivations and personalities. Emily is a fascinating protagonist. She had a sheltered upbringing, but her life changed dramatically after meeting Luz. As a reader, you want Emily to end up with Luz. Even the secondary characters, such as Grandma Sharon, feel layered and multi-faceted. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although primarily targeted toward LGBTQ readers, I think contemporary romance lovers in general will enjoy this!
