Simon and Schuster Dedicate New Website to the Business Book

The world of business celebrates another feat in gathering and helping business students, professors, advisers, and publishers as Simon & Schuster dedicates a new website to the business book community.

250 Words, the website recently launched by Simon & Schuster, was created to gather business enthusiasts in one online based community. It features reviews, essays and commentaries about business. It also focuses on providing a daily original essay which can also be read directly via email by subscribing.

Jonathan Karp, president of the Simon & Schuster Publishing Group, hopes to gather both fans and publishers of business books in the website. The idea behind the project was to provide a resource for business research and a hub for both readers and publishers to interact. The website hosts business literature published by Simon & Schuster and other publishers.

250 Words is similar to Narnia.com, a website developed by HarperCollins for Narnia fans. In Narnia.com, fans of the fantasy series Narnia by C.S. Lewis are able to gather, share insights, and discover more about the fantasy world. Similar to this idea, Karp also hopes to build a business community with 250 Words. The website aims to help publishers understand their readers as they share insights and commentaries.

250 Words Coverage

250 Words will cover a diverse collection of business literature, from books to reviews to interviews. Business enthusiasts will have access to different business authors from every publishing house. Essays and interviews of known business executives, entrepreneurs and thinkers are also available on the website. Researchers will also find recommended literature by business executives. This is for students, especially beginners in business

The essays that will be posted on the website can also be read via email subscription. Each post will be around 250 words, inspired by business books. These works are not summaries but are written for review purposes. It intends to give readers an idea shared in a book, and a glimpse of what it contains.

The posts will tackle different aspects of the business world including management, leadership, career, finance and marketing. It aims to encourage interaction among readers as they share insights and opinions.

Selected posts from 250 Words will be featured in Fortune Magazine. Fortune is a global leader in business journalism, with 13 million readers, both print and online. This will help reach more business enthusiasts, especially publishers and authors. It will also help provide information on what the website is all about.

Operating On Behalf of Business Groups

The business community has found an online hub with this new website for the business book. Simon & Schuster’s digital group will serve as operators for 250 Words on behalf of different business book communities. The literature included on the website is categorized to help visitors acquire the information they need.

Karp hopes that, like The New York Review of Books, 250 Words will be backed up by business book publishers. He also hopes to open a lively forum for business enthusiasts where they can further express inquiries and ideas for discussion.
