Using Social Media To Promote Your Novel – Tips That Actually Work!
Authors spend hours and hours on thinking of ways to promote their novels. Indie authors find it difficult to promote their novels and bring their hard work to the relevant audience. Since independent authors don’t have the leverage of having a publishing house that will promote their novel for them, such writers need to take this responsibility upon them.
Unlike authors who have contracts with well-reputed publishing houses, indie authors don’t have teams of people to handle their social media. They have to take charge of everything! Social media can be the perfect tool for you to promote your book, without spending too much or no money. Of course, you will have to invest your creativity, time and energy into the effort, but it will all be worth it in the end.
Here are some tips that actually work when it comes to promoting a novel on social media and increasing your sales!
Take The Visual Approach!
We all know that social posts with images always get better visibility. Pictures have their own way with words and this is the reason why brands, companies and authors try to include visual ads and images in their promotions as much as possible.
You can always use Facebook and Twitter to promote your novel, but times have changed and there are “new” social media platforms that can be used more vigorously and with greater results. You can use Pinterest, Snapchat and Instagram to stay in touch with your readers, build up the hype with teaser images, and simply keep the anticipation rolling before your novel is published.
Of course, you will have to use high quality images, be creative and quirky with your approach, and try to engage your audience with your ideas illustrated through these images.
Content Matters!
As writers, we all know that content is very important. Writing relevant content is necessary, especially when you are using it to engage your readers and entice them to start reading your novels. Images are important and they always will be, but the content of those images is just as important.
It does not matter if you use the conventional social media platforms or if you use the new ones, the titles and headings in the posts and the pictures will always need to be crisp, attractive and rich. Do not make just one title or one template and use the same text on different images. Make different titles, make different themes, and make sure that they are high quality because these are persuasive tactics that will bring readers to your page and to your novel.
Timing Is Important!
Your timing is very important and you should never compromise on it at all. When you need to promote a novel, you need to start the process weeks before the actual release of the novel. Starting just a few days before the release of the novel will not cut it and you will not have enough time to engage your audience.
Start on time and put all your efforts into it. Creating the images, finalizing the themes, templates and content is going to take some time, so starting a couple of months before the actual publication will help a lot. Timing is important and you need to pay attention to that!
Also, you should not be afraid to converse with your audience, post multiple times a day, use live videos and stories, use the share button, make visual ads and stay determined at all times. Never give up, stay determined and stay strong, because no one can promote, know and appreciate your novel more than you. You are the best person to promote your novel, so keep that in your mind because you are the best publicist for your novel!
