Are you reliable? Do you produce quality work? I feel this is better than a degree. I disagree about needing a degree. Do you have plenty of examples of your work to provide? Make a resume with your portfolio and move your tush onto websites like Indeed.com and LinkedIn. Volunteer if you have to for small newspapers or community magazines. I am talking from experience. If you have the passion, you might have to eat the meat and potatoes first. But, the dessert is ever so sweet. I spent a ton of money on a university/college education, because my high school placed me in college prep. Ever since elementary school, I was noticed for my creative writing. If they were so bent on me going to higher education, why was I not given a grant or scholarship? So, off I went to higher education, poor as can be. Instead, I could have worked full-time with a trade right after high school education. I could have written part-time when off work until successful.

But, you still want the schooling experience. Take it from me. Do it for free. There are ways of getting free “schooled” with the keys of your computer. Don’t have the time to search for jobs on Indeed for example? Search: Careful Cents’ No More Job Boards-get more clients without job boarding. Is time so valuable that you need to speed it up? Search: Pen and Parents Write 3K in 3 Days-after this challenge, write 3,000 words in 3 days. Do you just want to get to the point and put food on the table? Search, just as an example, as there are tons: Grace Bello-intro to humor writing.  

However, there are two (2) website platforms packed with real online free university/college courses, called FutureLearn and Coursera. On FutureLearn, after starting a free account, relevant schooling included these as I plugged in the search word “writing”: How To Succeed at Writing Applications-three (3) week course covering everything from a perfect application to an online profile for a job or course. On Coursera, after creating a free account, do as you please. I plugged in the word “writing” and received 324 results. Examples included: Become A Journalist: Report The News-Offered by Michigan State University. Job Success: Get Hired or Promoted in 3 Steps-Offered by The State University of New York. I even searched “How To Create A Website” and came up with “How To Create A Website in a Weekend”. Offered by The State University of New York.
