Easy Tools That Authors Can Use To Promote Their Books

Unless you have your own publicist or are a bestselling author on the New York Times list, chances are that you won’t have an easy time marketing your books. Many authors reach the point where they start questioning whether they should even be writing books at all. The good news is that it doesn’t matter what kind of book you have written because you can get an audience for your book. It might take several years before your books become truly successful, but you have to constantly work to promote them to have a solid shot at success. The following are some tips you should consider if you plan to market your own book.

Start early

The only way you can succeed in selling a book is to start promoting it early. You should start promoting a book well before launching it. You should focus on creating a network of reviewers and supporters to help you through the writing phase. Make sure that you keep people very close who have been involved in the research and writing process of your book. You should take notice of people who show genuine enthusiasm for your book project.

Join web forums and contribute frequently

There is at least one serious forum for every imaginable field or occupation. There are many forums dedicated to authors and you should find a good forum and join it. Contribute to the discussions as many times and as frequently as you can. Reach out and connect with people who share your interests. They might be very helpful when you are writing or promoting your book. You should also include a link to your blog or author website in your signature line.

Start a blog

When you are in the early stages of researching your book, you should start a blog. Make sure that you write blog posts each day that are relevant to your field and the topics you plan to discuss in your book. By the time your blog is a year old, you will have developed a sizeable knowledge base that is related to what your book discusses.

Write an excellent book

There is no shortcut when it comes to quality. No matter how much you try to promote a book, it will be a difficult task to sell it if people think it is not worth reading. Cut no corners when writing your book and get a trusted and experienced person to read it as you write it for quality assurance.

Have a positive attitude about promotion

Many authors are reluctant to make any effort to promote their books, especially if they plan to publish it the traditional way. They think that it is the publisher’s work to promote the book and not them. However, nobody can be more effective in promoting a book than the author. You are the one who knows the book inside and out and you can easily make people fall in love with it when you passionately share your thoughts on what inspired you to write the book.
