Get to Know What Your Readers Want

It’s easy to advertise on social media platforms and to gain some followers. But what’s hard is to make sure that you do not lose those followers and that you are able to give them what they want. There’s no question that social media marketing is effective for authors, but you still have to keep in mind that your customers, or your readers, are important and so you should understand what they want and need.

The things that readers care about:

Cost/Price. Of course, as money does not come easy, you can expect that your readers will want to read books that do not cost too much. Create surveys that will let you know about the price range that your readers prefer. And, if you have already published your book, make sure that it is worth its price. Create a book that’s appealing with a lot of meat and make sure that the price is just right.

Genre. Some readers prefer only certain kinds of genres such as YA or Romance or Suspense, while others choose to read all kinds of genres. If you write only one kind of genre, then make sure that you get to reach your target demographic by looking for them on Twitter. You can always use the search bar to check for what users are reading or what they are into.

How you are similar or different to other authors. Competition is tough these days and so it is important to make sure that you have your own selling point and that you have something that makes you different from all the other authors out there. Read books not to copy them, but to inspire you to create your own stories and your own unique style.

Their thoughts about your work. The beauty of reviews is that you get to know what your readers think so that you can improve your writing in the future. You can also ask readers to beta read for you, or read your works before they even get published so that you can make some necessary changes. Beta reading is also a good way of letting people know that your work exists and that you value their opinions so that when you finally publish your work, it will be of good quality.

They care about you. Yep, they actually want to know more about you and what you’re all about. They want to learn more about who you are and what you like or dislike because it makes them more interested in you and your works. The beauty of social media is that you can share your thoughts and feelings without going overboard. It’s up to you to control your thoughts and emotions.

So, there you have it. Care about your readers, let them know what you think and ask them about what they think as well. Make the most out of social media platforms and you will certainly be able to market yourself and your books well.
