How To Get Honest Book Reviews

How To Get Honest Book Reviews

Readers trust book reviews because they are generally written by ordinary readers like themselves. The belief is that they are unbiased. They trust the opinion of fellow readers over and above any other opinion. Getting as many people as possible to review your book is one of the best ways to market your book.

The key here is to get honest reviews. Yes, there are many ways to accumulate reviews, but readers can easily recognize a review that is not honest. So how do you get enough honest reviews for your new book?

Existing Readers Or Fan Base: As a writer, there are several ways to build a fan base. One main way to get fans is by maintaining an active social media presence. You can also get more fans by joining several writing groups. Additionally, you can tap into your existing readers if you have published books before. Your existing fans are the best and fastest way to get honest reviews for your new book since they have already shown interest in your work. Send out a compelling email about your new book and appeal to their existing trust in your work.

Amazon Top Reviewers: These are the very best resource when it comes to reviews. It is likely that they receive hundreds of review requests, but they are still worth a try. Even if you only get a couple of them to review your book, they will make a huge difference. Since they are busy and only a few will respond to your request, contact as many as possible.

Book Bloggers: Book bloggers have great reach and influence. Readers often visit their favorite blogs to see suggested new reads and trust the bloggers' opinion on whether your book is worth reading or not. These bloggers have built influence and trust in the readership community, and at times even have access to larger pools of readers through affiliations with other book bloggers and reviewers. Since they often handle specific genres, they are a very good way of reaching your target audience.

Giveaways: Offer free books in exchange for honest reviews. Start with the people that you feel promise more chances of reviews and that is your existing fan base. Your existing fans already love your work and are more likely to give you reviews. You can also use other platforms like book sites and blogs to offer free books. The more books you give out, the more chances of getting reviews so give out as many as you can.

Paid Reviews: If you can, offer payment in exchange for genuine reviews. There are several sites through which you can attain genuine reviews for your book at a fee. Be sure to utilize them.

End of Book Request: At the end of your story, include a request to the reader to review your book. Write a brief note appealing to your reader for an honest review. Remind the reader that the review is important to you because you value their opinion.
