Increase Your Author Exposure With Google Plus

Today, there are a great number of social networking platforms available so that a fledgling author might have a hard time deciding what platform to use. Of course there are the more popular ones such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Goodreads. If you are already using any one of these platforms, chances are you will have already discovered that there are specific areas that you wish your platform could do better.

Maybe it is because of the manner in which these platforms were initially introduced that put these platforms into their respective places they are now. One social media that seems to be misunderstood is Google+ because its one most important feature is search personalization.

When a search is done in Google, the search not only considers the search based on the keyword/s supplied by the user, but would also take into account the historical usage of the person's network doing the search. The user's Google network would consist of your contacts, those you have encircled in Google+ as well as friends of friends. What actually happens when a user is logged into his account is that all his searches are recorded in the Google Web History so that when a substantial amount of searches have been previously made by the user's network, the next searches on the same topic will produce articles that were previously used by the user's network. Thus, your Google network use will be influenced by your network's use. The larger your network, the more searches one is impacting.

In addition, any public post you make on Google+ is immediately indexed, unlike other methods where it would take months for the post to be indexed.

If you have not set up your Google+ account yet, sign up to enjoy the benefits of using Google+. To start, you can do the following:

Create a good profile and add a professional picture.

Use relevant keywords in your profile; those that relate to topics you mostly search.

Find people via Google+ search to follow so that you can expand your network.

Join pages and communities that will help you with your authorship.

Engage with these pages and communities so that you maximize the use of connections and resources.

Lastly, always update your content by regularly posting on your profile.

Increase your author exposure using Google+: it not only helps you to be visible to your potential followers, it also makes searching for your content easier.
