Making Money With Amazon Self-Publishing – Part 3
And here we are, the final part – how to really make money.
Obviously, the first step is to get your books written and uploaded onto the Kindle platform. Marketing is key – get the word out and tell everyone about your book.
Start small; one short book could be all it takes to get the ball rolling but keep in mind that one book won't bring the income you want. You need more books and this will provide you with two advantages:
You get more chances to write in a category you know is popular and more chances to catch the eye of your audience.
Second, cross-advertising is more likely. This means that the Amazon platform will list another of your books as similar to a user’s purchases or browsing history. A lot of people click those links and, in many cases, they buy the book.
This is easily accomplished by having two short books and not one long one and your goal should be a minimum of two books to get the best results.
Creating Your Book
Creating your book is simply a case of writing it. Although that is not so simple as people think:
Create an outline of your topic idea, do plenty of research and write. The important thing is not to put off doing it.
You don’t have to write it all in one day; split it down and do one chapter a day. Before you know it you will have a complete book.
If you already have a book written, use that but do read it before you publish to make sure it is right.
Show your book to a friend or family member you trust to give you honest feedback. This could result in edits or tweaks but they may be necessary.
Once your content is in shape, make sure it is in a presentable condition. Get it proof-read to ensure there are no glaring mistakes in grammar or typos. Trust me, one small mistake will be picked up by every reader!
Get a graphic designer to help you create your cover and get the text into a proper format. With the KDP program, you are given a set of specifications to follow so make sure you do.
A fantastic design and smooth copy with no errors, not to mention compelling, attention-grabbing content, is the key to great reviews and reviews are worth everything when you want sales.
Using Amazon for self-publishing couldn’t be simpler – find your theme or topic, write it, get it properly designed, join KDP and upload it – wait for the money to come rolling in.
Amazon self-publishing makes it a relatively easy process to follow but keep something in mind – the more time you spend on writing, etc., the longer it is before your book is online and making money. Don’t rush it, don’t upload a book that is utter rubbish and full of errors but do get it out there as soon as you possibly can – that’s the only way to make money with Amazon self-publishing.
