You don’t have to be on every social media platform to be able to connect with your readers and engage with them. If you are active on one platform and use it to the best of your abilities, you can do wonders for your book sales and keeping readers interested in your work. All you have to do is select that one social media platform that you are most comfortable with you and take it from there.
Since Facebook is one of those platforms that most authors are familiar with, using it becomes much easier. If you are new to social media or if you are testing the stormy waters of social media platforms for reader engagement, then starting with Facebook is a pretty great way to begin.
Here is what you should know about using Facebook to engage with readers, keep them interested and overall create a great platform for you to increase your reader bank.
Facebook for Your Reader Engagement Goals
Your Facebook page can be the best place for you to create a great business profile. For example, you can start by creating your public Author Page on the website, which can be your official source of information for your readers.
Once you have created your Author Page, you can start joining readers’ groups and writers’ groups where you can spread information about your book and use them for your marketing purposes. It is highly recommended that you use photographs with your posts on Facebook, but you don’t have to go to too much effort to ensure that the image is high quality. You can always use the image from the article or the blog post you will be sharing, but you can also post your own pictures such as your book cover, your own picture, etc.
If you prefer writing longer posts then Facebook is definitely the platform for you. You can post two to three times per week and talk about your writing process, about your book, how you are feeling and so much more.
According to statistics, teenagers don’t use Facebook as much as older demographics so it is a great platform for authors who write books for adults. YA and New Adult authors may not find much benefit from Facebook, but having a profile there can still benefit you.
Last, but not the least, Facebook is a great platform for authors who are big on advertising. Since your Author Page can be synched for an impressive digital marketing campaign on the website, you can easily point your readers to your new book and interest them in your online book sales and grab their attention when you will need it the most.
While all social media platforms are great, finding that one social media platform that works best you is very important. If your target audience is an older demographic or if you know how to advertise your books, then Facebook might be the hidden gem in your promotion arsenal.
