Story Ideas For Children Part 1

As a writer, your love for the written word is probably something that is running through your blood. You will probably agree it is never too early to enjoy creating a good story. Have you ever wanted to share your passion for writing with your family, especially younger members but have no idea how to tap into their creativity? How can you inspire children to begin their own journey of story-telling? Whether you're a parent or a teacher, the following story ideas will definitely set their imaginations in motion. 

1. What would you do if you woke up one morning and found you had a bionic arm?
2. Imagine you find a box on your doorstep and just as you are about to pick it up, it begins to move.
3. Write a story about a day by the seaside. As you come out of the sea, you find you have grown a mermaid's tail.
4. If a genie appeared in your bedroom and granted you three wishes, what would they be and why?
5. Write a story using these words: garden, banana, fairground, chocolate and drums.
6. Write about an adventure you could have with your pet chimpanzee.
7. You wake up one morning to find you have a superpower. What would it be and how would you use it?
8. Who is your hero? What adventure would you have with this person if you met them?
9. What do you want to be when you grow up and why?
10. Imagine you found a secret door in your bedroom and when you walk through it, you find you have shrunk to only 2 inches in height. How would your life be different?
11. Write about your happiest memory. What happened to make you feel so happy?
12. You are home alone and you suddenly discover there is a tornado heading towards your house. What would you do?
13. Imagine entering a secret world where dogs rule over humans. What do you think they would make humans do?
14. When you grow up, you have become a world-famous scientist. What would you invent and why?
15. You are an astronaut and about to discover a new planet. What would it be called and who would live there? 
16. If you ruled the world what laws would you have to make the world a better place?
17. Imagine opening your front door and finding a talking frog on your doorstep. The frog tells you he is your best friend and has been turned into a frog by the school bully. How could you help your friend?
18. You are a famous adventurer. As you are climbing up a very high mountain you come across a secret path that leads into the clouds. What would you find at the end of the path?
19. Imagine for one day your pet could talk. What would you ask them and what adventures could you have?
20. You wake up one morning and discover you have become invisible. What would you do?
21. Imagine you are transported into your favorite movie. What adventures would you have?
22. You have discovered a magical new city. What would it be like? Who would you invite to live there with you?
23. You have invented a time machine. What time in history would you travel to and why?
24. You are walking through a forest and a tree begins to talk to you. What would they tell you?
25. If you could be any fictional character in a book, who would you choose and why?
