Story Ideas For Children Part 2
There is no better way for your child to explore their creativity and imagination than with storytelling. It not only helps build their confidence and curiosity but also makes them so much more aware of themselves. Please share the following story ideas with your children or students and watch how their natural instincts for storytelling emerge. These ideas can be used for short stories, poetry or essays, whatever they prefer. The most important thing is that they are inspired to express their unique creativity.
1. You have been granted the ability to fly. Where would you go? What adventures would you have?
2. Write a poem about living in a treehouse?
3. Imagine planting a sunflower. When you wake up the following morning it has grown far above the clouds. What will you discover when you climb to the top of the flower?
4. It is your birthday and you receive a scarf. You discover that when you wear the scarf it gives you superpowers. What would those powers be and what adventure would you have?
5. You are working in a zoo. A ruthless pirate has stolen your favourite parrot. How would you track the thief down?
6. You live in a castle which is underwater. What people and creatures live there?
7. Write a new ending to a famous fairytale. For example, what would have happened to Snow White if she had refused to eat the poisoned apple?
8. A boy has to carry out five acts of kindness in order to claim his three wishes. What would those acts of kindness be and what wishes would he want?
9. Should you always keep a secret? Write a story about a time when you should not keep a secret.
10. You can meet any person from history. What questions would you ask them?
11. You are home alone when, suddenly, you see a mouse running through a hole in the wall. How could you follow the mouse?
12. Imagine you are a marshmallow trying to save yourself from being thrown into hot chocolate.
13. You live in a world made of candy and a storm is coming. What would happen?
14. A boy is finding it hard making friends at his new school. How would he become popular?
15. You find a lucky pencil that helps you pass all of your school assignments. Suddenly, the pencil has a mind of its own. What pranks would the pencil play?
16. You are a toy in a store. How would you make sure you get picked over the other toys?
17. You are friends with Humpty Dumpty. How would you convince him not to sit on the wall?
18. A magician's rabbit has been kidnapped by a wizard. How do you help rescue the rabbit?
19. On your way to school, you fall in a puddle. What happens?

21. The seven dwarfs are looking for a new dwarf to join their family. What would the dwarf be called?

It is so important for children to expand their minds with creative writing. Through storytelling, children gain so much confidence and an incredible insight into who they are. It is also a great source of comfort when a child can express their worries, concerns or dreams through the medium of writing.
