Turn your Writing Failures into Wins

Not every dream is meant to be achieved and every winner has known failure at some point in their lives. Since success has a lot to do with how you deal with failure, here are a few tips to see your failures from a different perspective and turn them into achievements.

Celebrate your courage

Many potential writers are stopped on their tracks of becoming successful writers by their fear. If you can and have faced failure or rejection, it means you had the courage in the first place to go after what you wanted. Courage is developed with time and even though you might not have achieved your goal this time, you may have developed your courage and suppressed your fear which is an achievement in itself.

Pay attention to your thoughts

What comes to your mind when you think of failure and what do you tell yourself when you fail? Guarding your thoughts and rejecting self-defeating thoughts is important in defining how you deal with failure. When you use one instance of defeat or even a couple of them as a source of judgment for yourself, you begin to see yourself as a failure which ultimately destroys your chances of success in the future.

Imperfection is in all of us

No one succeeds all the time, even the best of the best. There are always moments of failure as it is part of life. When you keep in mind that you may fail and others before you have failed, you become better prepared to handle failure. Since failure comes with a sense of embarrassment, especially if there are other people involved in your dream, it is crucial not to let moments of failure destroy your will. Everyone fails; it is how you deal with failure that distinguishes the successful people from those who decide to quit.

Celebrate what failure brings

Times of defeat bring humility and growth which are important, even when the wins begin to come. Unlike achievements, with failure, you will have to take a closer look to see the gains instead of concentrating on just the losses. Still, failure is, in most cases, more instrumental than winning. It forces you to reassess your situation and determine whether you want to keep moving forward. It also tests how badly you want to achieve your dream.

View success as a process

If you define success as one moment, it can be frustrating when you realize that it will take consistency and determination to get to the point where you want to be. Life-changing success is rarely achieved through one action; instead, it is a result of making multiple choices and trying and executing different ideas. Not all ideas will work out; sometimes you will only be successful in one or even none, but such is the path to success - full of lows and high points.

As a writer, how you decide to define failure is one of the most crucial decisions you will ever make. It all lies in how you choose to see it since it is bound to happen at some point.
