Writing Informative Articles

You have written and submitted your quality article with the hope that it will help drive more traffic to your site. The problem is, many authors experience rejection from publishers and webmasters. You start to reevaluate yourself, wondering what you did wrong. Rejection has always been part of writing. However, you can minimize, if not prevent, those rejections.

Writing opportunities may abound, but it is still a very competitive vocation. Publishers and webmasters are always looking for articles with fresh, new angles that offer valuable information. Editors and webmasters have a sort of “spider-sense” for writers who are writing only for the purpose of self-promotion. Writing and selling may be combined, but it must be done in the right place at the right time. Your best bet as an article writer is to strictly follow the guidelines of publishers and webmasters. The quality article can be a broad term for some, so here are a few other reminders to bear in mind if you are struggling to write quality articles:

1) Most online readers are searching for topics of interest that could provide the information that they need. Regardless of your niche, format your article outline in the flow of addressing the “WH” (who, what, where, when, why, and how) questions. Following this pattern helps you develop a clear objective of what idea you are delivering and how it can help your target audience.

2) If you have an idea for a specific topic that gives useful information, your introduction must briefly state what you are talking about. You are likely to keep your reader interested if they find that you are discussing the information that they want. Congratulations. You succeeded in the first step of engaging your reader. To keep them reading, be sure that the body of your piece is provided in easy to tackle paragraphs. Your information must talk about the benefits. In some cases, you can write a pros and cons type of information to help readers weigh their options.

This is like breaking the good news before the bad news. Nobody wants to hear the bad news first. Write them in bulleted or numbered points to make it easy for your reader to understand what they are getting. In a similar fashion, write the disadvantages (only if there are any) afterward.

3) As much as possible, add credibility to your claim by citing authoritative sources to back up your piece. Authoritative sources can come in the form of testimonials, statistics, and research. For example, if you are writing about the increase of weed smokers in the United States, you can cite statistical figures from reliable research firms. By doing this, you assure your readers that your article hinges on solid proof.

4) Take time to pimp your author's bio. You will often see authors writing very good articles, but their bio or author information is weak. If you can spend time creating quality articles, why not in writing an author bio? Your author's information gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself to your readers. It needs to have an impact to motivate both publishers and readers to pick you up.

Find the time to write an impressive bio. By that, it means highlighting who you are and why you are an expert on your topic. You can mention several achievements. In case a publisher allows you to have three hyperlinks to your site, take advantage of this by adding your allowable number of links for your readers to click through for more information about you and your work.

Authoring on the web is competitive and lucrative at the same time. Use your best judgment to exercise the best practices you deem fit to your writing style.
