Sharing is a crucial skill for children to learn as they develop their friendships. Learning how to live with one another in peaceful ways is a big part of growing up, and children must learn the importance of sharing. In Bossy Panda Bear Learns To Share by author Jackie Cano, readers meet a panda cub named Fredd. No matter how hard his teacher, Mrs. Daisy, tries to get him to stop, Fredd cannot stop taking his classmates’ belongings. However, things are about to change when a new student named Brett enters the class. Brett is much bigger and bossier than him, and he then realizes how lonely and unfulfilling stealing is. This is a wonderful book to teach children about the consequences of stealing and show how restorative and important it is to share with others.

I especially loved how the author, Jackie Cano, provides multiple opportunities for readers to engage with the book beyond just reading it. She includes various activities at the end for children to reflect on and complete, which helps the reader stay engaged with the story and learn something valuable from it. Additionally, the entire book is written as a poem, which makes it easy to follow along and perfect for younger audiences to read out loud. It only takes one act of kindness to change someone’s heart, just as Fredd learned how to share and cooperate with his classmates. Bossy Panda Bear Learns To Share is a wonderful tool to teach kids about the value of sharing in a positive, uplifting way.
