When Althea “Thea” Woodruff, a hotshot attorney at Hartford Pharmaceuticals in Philadelphia, quits her job after secretly driving the whistleblowing on the company’s illegal activities, she moves back to Patton Springs, her hometown in Woodruff Mountain. However, her colleagues are left curious about the way Hartford’s CEO, Thea’s hardheaded father, cooperates to pay billions of dollars in fines in relation to the case. If only they knew about her special powers. As Thea arrives in Patton Springs, she is about to discover secrets about her family and her hometown, all of which are linked to her powers and the mountain. The rekindling of an old flame also awaits her. But all this might be in danger as a colleague at Hartford, who confesses to working for a clandestine organization hunting people with special powers, tracks her down to Patton Springs. Find out how it all goes down in Firefly Song by Donna June Cooper.

Whenever I see Donna June Cooper's name on the cover, I immediately know I’ll be in for a delightful narrative ride. In Firefly Song, Cooper delivers yet another compelling tale starring the Woodruffs, as a new member of the family is introduced. Thea is a complicated character whose intelligence, talent, class, feistiness, and down-to-earth nature will make you fall in love right from the start. She brings more drama, depth to the family’s and town’s history, more supernatural intrigue, and combustible romantic energy to the story. I could feel the fiery chemistry between her and Sheriff Jake. Cooper also extends the story’s focus to Patton Springs town, with its close-knit community of nosy residents, a troublesome conspiratorial triumvirate, a charlatan, and a busy gossip mill. I relished the banter, sarcasm, lively conversations, and witty, introspective commentary. This page turner is an incredible third installment in the Books of the Kindling series. I loved it.
