Forever Yours by Joslyn Westbrook is a summer fling romance that fairly sizzles off the pages. Cami has just graduated from Oxford, England, with a PhD in economics, and is heading for New York to begin her high-powered career in finance. She left England with a severely broken heart and is spending the summer housesitting for a friend in Crystal Cove, Connecticut. Knox is eleven years older than Cami and is recovering from the heartbreak of discovering his wife cheating on him. He is spending the summer in the beach house next door to recover from his recently finalized divorce and also to chill. Neither is looking for a long-term relationship, but a summer fling, with no strings attached, might be a totally different thing altogether. A pair of kittens ultimately brings these two lovelorn people together, but much more than that will bind them over a long, beautiful, and incredibly sizzling summer.
Forever Yours is a wonderful diversion from the seriousness of life today. I have a soft spot for sweet romance stories, and if they also combine some excellent anticipatory sizzle, so much the better. Both Knox and Cami are what we might call “beautiful people”: smart, gorgeous, and infinitely sexy, but also with mental doubts and constraints. What Joslyn Westbrook does extremely well is meld them into the couple they initially never had any intention of becoming. I appreciated the depth of the storytelling and the various story arcs that flesh out the real lives of the participants, beyond the bubble they created for themselves. Both are reminded that real life doesn’t run to a schedule and that no matter how hard they might try to keep their relationship as superficial, meaningless fun, that is not the way life and love actually work. The handling of the romantic scenes is exceptional; sizzling hot, incredibly steamy, and sensual, yet never too explicit. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Highly recommended.
