Who would have thought a baby boy born on December 14, 1952, in Hong Kong would live such a varied and interesting life? Maybe his mother and father, but everyone else would have to wait and see his life unfold. In How the Great Spirit Shaped My Life:
Reflections of a 70-Year-Old Human Soul, Tommy S. W. Wong shares his philosophy learned during his 70 years. During his lifetime, he has been an engineer, stockbroker, friend, leader, spiritual leader, academic, and independent consultant. He presents an interesting theory that spiritually; the soul decides it wants to be born and decides on its parents. His goal in life is to help others. In 1982, he married the love of his life. Spiritually, he knows that the Great Spirit has worked everything together to make him who and what he is today. Acknowledging the power and leading of the Great Spirit keeps him humble, which is the core of being spiritual. Money may increase your creature comforts, but wisdom increases your soul.
Growing up in traditional Catholic and Protestant ways, Dr. Tommy S. W. Wong has become spiritual instead of religious. He shares his life experiences in How the Great Spirit Shaped My Life. It is Tommy’s sincere belief that we may make plans and attempt to implement them, but the Great Spirit has an even better plan that he develops our plan to emulate. While spiritually, Tommy and I are on different planes, I enjoyed reading his autobiography. I also was very relieved that an academic would write in conversational English and be so easy to understand. Tommy does not try to push his brand of spirituality on the reader but gently includes information for those interested. This book is well worth its five star rating and was an absolute joy to read.
