No matter where we are, family has enormous value in our lives. Ebonie P. Fields expands on this idea in Lenny and Leila and the Magical Hummingbirds. The story concerns Lenny and Leila, siblings who live on the coast of Jamaica. One day, their parents tell them that they are moving to America, and the children are distressed. While the parents start packing, the siblings go out to look for a new place to live in Jamaica because they don't want to move. On the way, they come across two magical hummingbirds who take them on a journey through various places in America, showing them many new and fascinating places to discover and people they can meet. Lenny and Leila learn that moving can be an adventure and understand that home is where their parents are.

Family is the basis of everything and contributes to the personal development of each person. Families will remain united if children grow up with these values of solidarity. The story touches on the topic of moving from a positive perspective, portraying it as the beginning of a great experience. This is perfect for motivating children who are faced with the prospect. The content is well crafted. Ebonie P. Fields has a concise narrative style with clear descriptions. All the characters have friendly personalities and are collaborative. The illustrations are detailed, showing various features of America, such as New York City and Arizona. I recommend Lenny and Leila and the Magical Hummingbirds for the uplifting messages it conveys.

When you’re surrounded by friends and family, you don’t want to pull up roots and move, especially to a faraway country. Lenny and Leila and the Magical Hummingbirds by Ebonie P. Fields tells readers that Lenny and Leila live in a lovely house in Jamaica, but their parents are moving the family to the United States. The siblings are understandably upset because they’ll be leaving behind good friends. They believe that their home in Jamaica is the only beautiful place in the world, and they decide to run away so they don’t have to move. Two magical black-billed hummingbirds, Izzy and Louie, take Lenny and Leila on an enchanting adventure in the United States, to observe a few places that might rival their own sweet home. When they return to Jamaica, Lenny and Leila are happy to be reunited with their parents and they can look forward to a real adventure in their new home, thanks to the two special hummingbirds.

Lenny and Leila and the Magical Hummingbirds by Ebonie P. Fields is a sweet picture book, full of magic and adventure. Written like a fairy tale in the third person, the author leads the readers on an exciting journey, exploring different locations. The bond of friendship and family will warm the hearts of readers young and old. The spectacular illustrations set the stage for the many locations the children visit. I love the way the author illustrates one page, while the facing page is the relevant part of the story shown in the picture. The text is elegantly framed with one of the hummingbirds positioned on one of the corners. The entire book is a work of art, beautifully told and illustrated.
