After seven years, Jared Loper finally was a free man, and the only thing on his mind is seeing his daughter Meredith. He knows that he needs to get back on his feet and find a job, but nobody is anxious to hire an ex-con. In the meantime, Jared goes to stay with a friend that helps him think of a plan to find his daughter. Reagan got word that Jared is being released and will do everything she can to keep her daughter safe and away from her ex-husband, Jared, even if that meant packing up their life and moving to a small town in Maine called Lonewild. The small town and friendly neighbors are the perfect hideaways, and Reagan and Meredith love their new home and the landlord, Ida. Reagan also finds herself starting to get back to her love of painting and has a romantic interest but is afraid to pursue anything because Jared could come interrupting their life at any time.
Rebecca Stevenson’s Lonewild Winter is an enjoyable contemporary romance story that is sure to keep you turning to the next page. Rebecca’s writing is captivating and pulls you in from the beginning. I saw that this is book three of a series so I will have to go back and find the first two books. I enjoyed Ida’s spunk and spirit and Meredith’s resolve to do what she wanted and that is so typical of preteen girls. Rebecca’s characters were very compelling. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lonewild Winter: A Wentworth Cove Novel and look forward to reading more of this author's works.
