I found New Beginnings to be a charming novel that combines romance and drama. Deborah King draws her readers in with Sophie Tucker's dynamic personality, who appears to have everything going for her. Her family's legacy is a ranch that caters to PTSD clients. When her best friend Melinda and her husband buy the ranch, Sophie adds to her responsibilities of a Sous chef. As the story unfolds, her legacy feels like a lie. The handsome foreman with a dark past keeps her at arm's length as she wonders if he is her soul mate. In a moment, everything changes. Sophie realizes everyone has been harboring a secret about her. The foundation of her life shakes, and she wonders if she can ever get clear of the mess her life has become.
New Beginnings is a captivating tale that blends forgiveness, acceptance, and new beginnings into one dynamic book. Deborah King makes you feel like you are there as the story unfolds. As each dramatic scene around Sophie calls her to action, she carefully chooses her path. At times she must decide if a new beginning or new start is needed to reach her goals. I could relate to the characters as their flaws made them human. The rugged setting dripped with details, making me feel like I was in Misty Valley riding a horse, cooking with Sophie, or spying on her blossoming romance. My personal favorite was the attention and love given to Mia. This ranch was a refuge for more than just veterans. I highly recommend this inspirational and a sweet romance.
