The setting is 1861. When her abusive husband signed up for the Civil War, Hannah was left to raise her three children alone. Life wasn’t easy but she learned to take care of herself and her children. He didn’t both to return after the war ended. Hannah had learned to make her own way in life with her children and she was doing rather well. Bartell had moved to the Midwest. After an accident left him crippled he decided to return home. His homecoming was just one of the secrets of the Old Red Bridge.

How could anyone not love this story! Hannah proved you can go on when you think that all is lost. She made a good life out of tragedies. She is an inspiration.

This book is well written. The plot is fascinating, well developed, and entertaining. The characters come to life. I know this is fiction but I can’t help but feel this is fact behind this story. Cora A. Seaman is a master story teller. I met her at an author fair. She is just as inspiring as her books.
