Wanted: Vampire's Assistant is a delightful paranormal tale written by Dusty Rose. Mia Durran is a young waitress who does not believe in the supernatural. After being bounced from yet another job she loathes, Mia is about to become homeless. An advertisement in the paper that states Wanted: Vampire's Assistant initially prompts a cynical response, but after applying for the job, Mia finds herself living in an incredible mansion in a world of vampires, witches, trolls, and more. Having the time of her life, Mia wonders why she did not discover this world sooner. Her employer, Draven Leto, is a thousand-year-old vampire who cares very much for his employees and hires gargoyle Mesmer as Mia's bodyguard. After several attempts are made on Mia's life, Draven leaves no stone unturned as he delves into clues as to the assassin's identity while doing his best to keep Mia alive. The stakes are high, and when an attack happens at the mansion, Draven fights to the death to keep not only Mia but all his other employees and loved ones safe.
I have been a paranormal fan for most of my life and Dusty Rose is most definitely my new favorite author. Wanted: Vampire's Assistant is not only a compelling read but it created a whole new level of sleep deprivation in me as I could not put the book down. While most of the story had me smiling or even laughing out loud, it also had me sobbing at each assassination attempt. The story was so descriptive and well-written that I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel to arrive. The vast array of characters came to life so vividly in my mind, I find myself smiling often as I think of the tale, and I look forward to reading it all over again. In my opinion, Dusty Rose is the next Cate Tiernan, and I recommend it be read by everyone over the age of 12 who loves books that step outside the ordinary and into the wonders of paranormal realities; this one is a pick-me-up from the mundane. Thank you for introducing this literary series to the world!
