In a quaint town lives a family with a young son who hasn’t yet made friends, since they just started living there. When the dad comes home with a beautiful Christmas tree for the house, the boy hopes that Santa will bring him friends as his gift on Christmas morning. But, when the tree begins to talk to him, the boy realizes he should move it outside for others to admire, so he does, hoping that Santa will still know where to bring his gifts for Christmas. When the boy goes outside on Christmas morning, some children are hanging around the tree, and they ask to be friends! A Boy and the Christmas Tree by Loreta Yono is a heartwarming read that is perfect for the Christmas season.

This story brought a smile to my face, and I think that it will do the same to all children who pick it up. A Boy and the Christmas Tree has adorable illustrations that I couldn’t help but be drawn to, and I also really liked that there were some coloring pages at the end of the book! Loreta Yono did a wonderful job writing and designing this book; it was a fun read with a cute little protagonist who had a big heart. He had one dream: to make friends, and that dream came true for him. I would recommend A Boy and the Christmas Tree by Loreta Yono to young children and their families; it’s an easy-to-read book with vibrant illustrations throughout.
