A Home Called Haven Book 2: The Upper World is a children’s adventure picture book written by C. Anne with illustrations by Alessandra Liane. The story follows the journey of Amma’s foster children, Fox and Otter, who found healing and learned to lean on each other in their first adventure to the Lower World. In this installment, they find themselves weighed down by the cold winter weather, but all this changes when the first snow comes. One day, they go into the woods to play and are magically whisked away into the Upper World, a sparkly land with a futuristic glass city, chains of mountains, and forests of icy trees. Unfortunately, Fox and Otter have a disagreement, which causes them to part ways and leads them on two different paths and experiences. They meet gods, goddesses, and many more magnificent creatures. Will Otter and Fox ever reunite? What will they learn on their journeys? And will they ever find their way back to Amma and their home called Haven?
C. Anne is a creative writer who combines adventure, mythology, and children’s mental issues in one story. A Home Called Haven Book 2: The Upper World is well-written and fun to read. Fox and Otter are adorable children going through changes and learning to cope with life. I was rooting for them and loved seeing their development. Fox and Otter learn to focus, control their emotions, find balance, and treat themselves kindly. Their journeys provide lessons that help them face life positively and approach situations differently. The author's descriptions and the illustrator's art helped me visualize the characters and the environment. I loved that the images are sketched art because they will encourage children who love to draw. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves magical adventure novels that tackle mental issues. Great work.
