Ginger Joyce and Forest Tale is the first book of The Magical Kittens series by Julia Kosinskaja. Joyce is a cute little ginger kitten who lives in a house by the edge of an ancient forest. Joyce loves listening to the stories of his friend Archibald, an adult black cat who lives beyond the fence and comes to the house to eat "properly." But Joyce must face his biggest fear and venture into the forest when Archie goes missing. Gallus the rooster and Prospero the raven join him on this mission. Soon, the three unlikely companions come across the deer king and a couple of his hedgehog guards. However, Joyce is yet to face his biggest challenge. Can he overcome his fears and find Archie?
A whimsical adventure tale for kids, Ginger Joyce and Forest Tale is an absolute joy to read. Julia Kosinskaja brings young readers a delightful narrative featuring talking animals that they are going to adore. It also has colorful illustrations and an immersive plot. I loved the characters in this book. Kosinskaja masterfully crafted these characters with distinct and vibrant personalities. Joyce is, of course, a sweet kitten that children will find easy to like. But even the secondary characters are so lively that you can't help but be entertained by their quirks. I felt Gallus and Prospero brought a lot of humor to the narrative. This book offers a gentle lesson about facing one's fears head-on. I had a great time reading it. And I think others will feel the same, especially young ones!
