An Invisible Hand by Kathy Golden is a faith-based short story that follows Belinda, a thirty-two-year-old woman who discovers she has the gift of healing. While shopping, Belinda goes into a trance-like state and feels a mysterious energy leave her body, which leads to the miraculous healing of a girl in a wheelchair who has a fractured spinal cord. Although Belinda keeps her involvement a secret, news spreads quickly in her small community in Tampa, Florida. TV broadcasts feature various opportunists claiming credit for the miracle, leaving Belinda in a state of conflict. As more miracles occur, she grapples with the decision of whether to come forward or remain quiet about her abilities. Determined to learn more about her gift, Belinda embarks on a journey that deepens her understanding of her family heritage and God's wondrous power.

An Invisible Hand is a thought-provoking story that explores themes of faith, divine intervention, and human perception. It delves into community, family, and relationship dynamics, presenting readers with relatable characters. The narrative places you in Belinda's shoes and prompts you to consider how you would react if you discovered you could secretly heal people. Kathy Golden skillfully conveys Belinda’s feelings of doubt, her desire for recognition, and her quest to understand the divine purpose behind her abilities. The story masterfully blends biblical teachings on healing with real-world skepticism and personal introspection, emphasizing that true miracles may occur quietly and often beyond human understanding. It also encourages readers to reflect on the role of faith in the healing process, both for the healer and the person being healed. This is an engaging story packed with valuable lessons and dynamic characters confronting real-life challenges. Additionally, it explores Belinda’s relationship with Patrick, addressing family expectations and societal pressures. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates faith-based fiction, combining spiritual themes with relatable characters and compelling moral dilemmas.
