In Baby Girl Jones, a psychological thriller by Cortney Donelson, an eighteen-year-old young woman gave birth and took the baby to a local hospital, where she laid the infant on a bench just inside the entrance. Years later, Sean Flynn, a caseworker for the North Carolina State foster care system, was called to the Daniels’ home after Penny Jones ran away. Penny had been fostered since she was a baby and went from one foster home to another. A woman had been found dead, and Detective Claire Miller was called to the scene. To solve the woman's death, she had to go through the state's foster care system. During her investigation, Claire came across information that pulled the rug out from under her, and her world was turned upside down.

Baby Girl Jones by Cortney Donelson held my interest right up until the very end. Different characters' lives are intertwined in this excellent thriller. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages as fast as I could. I was convinced that I suspected the correct character who had taken over another person's identity, but I was completely wrong. I was not expecting the information that Claire obtained. I was dumbfounded. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what to expect next in this suspenseful mystery. The chapters alternated between different characters' points of view but this did not detract from the building suspense. The story was masterfully crafted, and so much happened that I did not want to put the book down!
