Book Ends, a realistic and emotional novel by Leslie M. Scott-Jones, tells the endearing story of two individuals, Jack and Quinn. Jack, an ambitious playwright, is plagued by her past that forever haunts her. While Jack knows she will have to face it eventually, she finds it impossible to let anyone in on her secret, leaving her to battle her darkness on her own. Quinn, a successful writer and father of two teenagers, struggles with his inability to let Jack or anyone in completely. The two of them force themselves apart, only to come back to each other time and again, testing each other’s love and, in turn, their loyalty to each other. Can they overcome their past tragedies? Their current hardships? Can they finally admit their truths to each other? Can love conquer all?

Book Ends focuses on realistic issues that plague couples today, making it a refreshingly relatable novel. Leslie writes her characters so strongly that it is easy to believe you know them personally. Highly emotive, powerful, honest and passionate, Book Ends will make you laugh, cry, and will leave you desperately wanting more. With each character's perspective written carefully, it is easy to understand Jack and Quinn’s motives and actions, taking each reader on an emotional roller coaster with the characters themselves. Eager to learn what happens with Jack and Quinn, I couldn’t put the book down until I read the ending. I loved the novel! It was incredibly well written. I loved the realness, and the ease at feeling so close to Quinn and Jack. I fell in love with them and I can honestly say, I can’t wait for more from Leslie.
