Bounty by JD Cunegan is Book 1 in the Jill Anderson Series. Jill Anderson is a bright detective, one of Baltimore’s best, but she has a secret, one she doesn’t want anyone to know about. The body of Dr. Trent is found in the Chesapeake Bay and Jill’s secret looks set to come tumbling out. The connection between Dr. Roberts and Jill spans a tour in Iraq, a deep conspiracy involving a native son, and a cybernetic experiment that remained secretive. Jill needs to find out who killed Dr. Trent, but she also needs to keep her secret ... well, secret. Several questions arise – just what was Dr. Trent working on when he was murdered? Can Jill keep her secret from her Seventh Precinct partners and just who is Bounty?
Bounty (Jill Anderson Series Book 1) by JD Cunegan is a thrilling read from start to finish. Right from page one, the story drags you in and hangs on for dear life until the very end. The story is well written, and full of descriptive elements that help you to understand the story better. The plot is complicated, but provided you concentrate, you won’t lose track. The characters are very well developed, hopefully setting the scene for the next book in the series. This is a fresh take on an old, tried and tested genre, and is one of the most engaging murder mysteries I have read for a while. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat, and a surprising twist that reveals the secret. There is definitely a lead-in to the next book and I think anyone who enjoys a murder mystery with a twist of something different will enjoy this story.
