In Bridges Between Our Hearts, Jennifer Collins has written an awe-inspiring book about a woman who loses her daughter and how the ones who are left behind handle their grief at the loss. The story unfolds most sensitively and the reader will find themself identifying with the actions and each character as they work through their grief and move on with their lives. But often the sense of betraying and forgetting the one who had passed will rear its ugly head again and depression will set in. The story is set in 2020 at the beginning of COVID-19 and ends in 2035.
Jennifer Collins makes each chapter special with quotes from various people opening the chapter, which I found to be intriguing and interesting as most of the time the quotes were very appropriate. Each character will help the reader through the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the good times and the bad times. The author makes the reader take note of their own life, how their family would handle the sudden death of a family member, especially a child, and what they could have done to alleviate some of the trauma the family suffered. I found myself relating to Larissa, the main character, who holds the reader's attention to the very end. The conclusion is unexpected. Bridges Between Our Hearts is a must-read as it brings a lot of problems to the forefront and shows readers how easy it is to solve them. A stunning book. Thank you, Jennifer, for an amazing read.
