Can You Find My Shoe? is a bright and colorful adventure book for young readers, penned by author Patty Lennox and illustrated by artist Harry Aveira. Designed for readers aged 3 to 7 years to read along with their parents, the vivid setting for the story takes place in a zoo, where pairs of rhyming couplets take us through the journey of a young boy looking for his lost shoe. The zookeeper and the animals help him to seek it out, but the illustrations leave plenty of room for young readers to look for the shoe too on each double-page spread.

Author Patty Lennox and artist Harry Aveira come together beautifully in this masterpiece of children’s reading. It’s a simple story with simple elements, but the general plot encourages children to be observant rather than passive when engaging with each page, and the excellent rhyme scheme and use of vocabulary teach plenty of relevant and useful words for their literacy. Aveira’s cartoony but digitally enhanced style looks modern and exciting for kids from the Pixar age and beyond, and every figure, be they animal or human, has plenty of character and expression to read into. The rhymes are never too repetitive, and the rhythm is well expressed to help children pick up the grammar, and also enjoy the story again and again for its comforting and happy beat. Overall, Can You Find My Shoe? is a super, well-formatted and highly engaging picture storybook that will have a beloved place on every child’s nightstand.

Can You Find My Shoe? A Zoo Adventure for Children, Ages 3-7, is an animal adventure book written by Patty Lennox and illustrated by Harry Aveira. Wherever did his shoe go? In a fit of exuberance, the little boy in this story performed a cartwheel in the zoo. When he stood up again, he noticed that one shoe was definitely missing. He looked everywhere but couldn’t find it. Two zookeepers decided to try to help him. The three of them looked high and low. They checked each cage and animal enclosure. Even using binoculars failed to produce that very elusive shoe. Would he have to leave without it?

Can You Find My Shoe? follows a child and two zookeepers as they try to locate his missing sneaker. Little do they know that his shoe is usually just out of their view. Sometimes, it’s scooting past while they look in the other direction. At other times, it’s hiding in the roots of a tree or under a polar bear or another animal. Can you find the shoe? Kids of all ages will have a grand time trying to spot the mischievous shoe that takes the owner and two zookeepers on a merry chase indeed. Along the way, they’ll be introduced to a number of the exotic animals that are typically seen in a zoo. I especially appreciated the surprise ending and the lesson on kindness that comes with it. The illustrations are cheerful and brightly colored, and they work brilliantly with the story. Can You Find My Shoe? A Zoo Adventure for Children, Ages 3-7, is most highly recommended.

Can You Find My Shoe? by Patty Lennox is a cute children’s book about a child that loses his shoe amid all of the animals in a zoo. In this book, we follow along with a young boy who is enjoying spending time at the zoo, as most children would. As he is playing and jumping around, all of a sudden his right shoe slips off his foot and seems to disappear somewhere. He starts asking the zookeepers if they know where the shoe is but they don’t. Then follows the main content of the book where he asks each of the animals in turn such as snakes, elephants, panda, giraffe, gorillas, flamingoes, koala, camel, kangaroo, sloth, etc. but no one knows where his shoe is. At last, unexpectedly, he comes across his shoe but finds a surprise in it. There is a simple and surprising ending to this book which would appeal to any child.

Can You Find My Shoe? A Zoo Adventure for Ages 3-7 by Patty Lennox is a nice book with a storyline that any child would find enjoyable. Although it is for children to read along with and have fun with the rhymes, I think younger kids would also enjoy looking through it due to its colorful illustrations. The illustrations are fun and bright and really add to the appeal of the book. I also liked that parents can perhaps provide a message of kindness to animals through books like these which children can learn at a young age. Patty’s writing is short and simple and should be easy for a child to grasp on their own while reading this book. Overall, this is a fun and entertaining story for young children.
