Author Biography

Michael Bowers is a military veteran with over thirty years of active service. He has circled the globe numerous times during his career, experiencing many cultures. Michael has three children, Justin, Crystal, and Brandon, and currently lives in Dayton Ohio with his wife, Diane.

Captured by COVID is a true story that describes actual events experienced by the author. What started out as a hospital admission due to COVID evolved into a series of unimaginable events. The details of torture, abandonment and betrayal are real. Captured by COVID is an essential read for those that want to understand what goes through the brain of a near death comatose patient. Captured by COVID is not political nor does it explore vaccines, masks, or validity of the disease.

Captured by COVID: Deceit, Conspiracy and Death - A True Story by Michael E. Bowers is a chilling memoir that details the author's harrowing experience while being treated for Covid-19. On December 31, 2020, Michael, his wife Diane, and son Brandon tested positive for Covid-19. While his wife and son recovered, Michael's condition deteriorated, and he was admitted to Soin Medical Center. His health declined to the point that he had to go on a ventilator and was placed in a medically-induced coma. While in the intensive care unit, he suffered nightmares and hallucinations. Treated for post-traumatic disorder after his discharge from the hospital, Michael recounts the terror and trauma he suffered in vivid details that seem all too real. This is his story.

Michael E. Bowers' Captured by COVID is a detailed and immersive narrative about the author's terrifying memories while under treatment for Covid-19. It is also a heartwarming book about the significance of the love and support of family and friends. Until recently, Michael had a hard time remembering what was real and what were hallucinations during his ordeal, and it is incredible how he can recall the scenes in such graphic detail. This book should be beneficial for studying the post-intensive care syndrome of patients recovering from the disease. As the world slowly emerges from the far-reaching effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, this book reminds us that we should also pay tribute to the health workers who were on the frontline in fighting the disease. Highly recommended!

As the coronavirus swept the globe, the casualty figures for those unfortunate souls who lost their lives to this horrible ailment rose daily. Preventive measures were failing with no sign of a reprieve in sight. Therefore when Michael E. Bowers went to the hospital with his wife for a random test after their son was hospitalized, you can only imagine their distress when they received the information that they had both tested positive for the virus. While his wife came out better, his situation worsened even though his family tried every method available to them to save his life before it became terminal. Captured By Covid is his bedside account of the ordeal he endured on his journey through the valley of the shadow of death.

Captured By Covid gives the reader a view of the situation that a Covid-positive patient experiences in the hospital. Michael E. Bowers' account is emotional and thought-provoking especially when you consider the limitations he had to contend with. His hallucinations give an insight into the extent of his pain and discomfort even while sedated. His account is detailed right up to the end of his ordeal. It is heartwarming to see that he retained his sense of imagination while he was under even though it came at a cost to his emotional health. This book will no doubt be of interest to millions of medical personnel battling to save lives in hospitals worldwide. This is a unique book with a one-of-a-kind story.
