Catch Sight by Tess Manchester is a compelling urban fantasy that continues the Web of Dwellers series with an intricate tale of intrigue, survival, and shifting alliances. Set in a shadowy urban landscape, the novel follows Neve Traxon, a fierce and resourceful vampire confronting relentless threats to her kind. As a vicious vampire known as the Priest ruthlessly abducts and kills, Neve embarks on a dangerous mission to stop him, revealing a larger conspiracy that could potentially exterminate her entire species. A complex tapestry of action and emotional depth challenges Neve to navigate not only external dangers but also her own internal conflicts and moral dilemmas. In this world, trust is rare, alliances are fleeting, and every decision has consequences.

Tess Manchester's story is both electrifying and nuanced, with a vampire protagonist who goes beyond supernatural stereotypes. The vivid prose creates a dark, immersive atmosphere that kept me completely engrossed from the first page. Her ability to blend intense action with psychological complexity explores Neve's internal struggles and ethical challenges. The dialogue crackles with authenticity, reflecting the characters' emotions and drawing readers into the story. Manchester adds a humanizing depth to Neve, making her relatable despite her supernatural nature. The exploration of power, sacrifice, and identity enriches the plot, while the action sequences maintain a relentless pace that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The characters reveal the author's understanding of human (and supernatural) nature. The storytelling is both intimate and expansive, creating a world that is at once familiar and utterly strange. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Catch Sight as a thrilling and thought-provoking urban fantasy that pushes the boundaries.

Catch Sight is the second book in the Web of Dwellers urban fantasy saga by Tess Manchester. On the run with the IRU on their heels, private investigator and vampire Neve Traxon and her friends, alongside the members of the Infinity faction, have reached North Las Vegas, hoping to expand their blood-dealing operation. But former detective-turned-fugitive Marek is still a "regular" and feels conflicted with his choices. Meanwhile, trying to find a young woman named Lynn Casey puts Neve and her friends at the crossroads of the ruthless Priest who seeks to infect all humans. Additionally, the IRU has been rounding up the infected and putting them in a secret quarantine facility. With Inez getting weaker with each passing day, can Neve find a way to stop the Priest and rescue the Dwellers captured by the IRU?

The second part of the Web of Dwellers series is as action-packed and full of surprises as its predecessor. Catch Sight has your attention from the first page to the last. Author Tess Manchester fleshes out the characters further in this installment, giving them new struggles and challenges to overcome. Each character is distinct and has their own agency, which makes the story and the world feel lived in. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. You never know what to expect from this series. Apart from Neve, I also liked Inez's and Marek's story arcs, as well as the introduction of Tristan. The stakes always feel high during the action sequences as you don't know if your favorite characters will make it out alive. If you're a fan of vampire stories, you'll love this one!

Despite being betrayed by those she sought help from, Neve Traxon has found new allies in Inez and the members of the Infinity faction. The actions of the government's Infected Response Unit have forced her and her friends, Marek Kaidan and Gail Lane, into hiding to avoid capture. Nevertheless, Neve still manages to pursue her true passion as a private investigator. Her latest case involves a young woman who has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. Unbeknownst to her, this case shares a disturbing connection to a government conspiracy that has far-reaching implications for all of them in Tess Manchester's Catch Sight. The author takes a refreshingly new approach to a vampire narrative in this second Web Of Dwellers book. Catch Sight features a cast of characters with well-developed origin stories that will captivate new readers while keeping long-time fans engaged.

The dialogue is easy to follow, and on several occasions, it includes strategically placed clues that enhance the story for those familiar with Tess Manchester's unique narrative style. The pacing allows readers to familiarize themselves with the different factions and their motives in the plot. Tess skillfully ties this installment into the broader series by referencing how Neve allied with the Infinity faction and detailing the activities of the antagonists, making for an engaging adventure that readers can enjoy both as a standalone novel and as part of a larger narrative arc. One of the standout qualities of Catch Sight is how the author portrays the undead from a scientific perspective. Tess employs terms like "the infected" and highlights the use of blood bags to nourish the undead, creating a unique blend of science fiction and fantasy that feels remarkably believable. This novel stands out in its genre.
