Whoa! That was my first thought when I finished reading Chasing Harpo by author Alan Black. Follow our protagonist, Harpo the orangutan, as he escapes into the unknown. Harpo, who has always believed that humans were put on earth for his entertainment and to feed him, of course, soon finds himself the focus of a country-wide man - or shall we say, ape - hunt. His human friend, Carl, is determined to save him, and when they realize they are marked for death, their wild ride gets even wilder.

Fun. That is the best way I can describe Chasing Harpo. This is a fun, unique and inventive book that will have you laughing out loud at times and on the edge of your seat at others. I have to give author Alan Black a whole lot of credit; making a humanized orangutan the star of your novel takes a lot of guts. In this case, it absolutely paid off. The author has a spot-on ability to develop characters that are entertaining, interesting and full of life, and his abilities with descriptive language are second to none. Chasing Harpo is a book that would appeal to any reader who loves inventive fiction, a great storyline or an action packed story that will also make you laugh. I highly recommend Chasing Harpo, and am sure that any reader who picks it up will enjoy it immensely. This is the first book I’ve read by author Alan Black, but it certainly won’t be the last.
