Dissonance by Aleksander Szeser is a fast-paced action thriller. Kira Hunt is a typical suburban Los Angeles mom with a young daughter, Rebecca, a loving husband, Max, and a life that is normal and happy. Yet, Kira has a dark and difficult past that she has buried. When that past comes back to haunt her, she is challenged to survive her tumultuous history. Dissonance is a cleverly plotted thriller that moves at a breakneck pace to an unexpected and violent conclusion, written with such urgency and non-stop action that lovers of fast-paced, adrenaline-stoked narratives will be in their element. Aleksander Szeser develops his characters with some depth. This certainly lifts the story above the average action thriller. Kira is engaged in outright warfare against an army of professionals, and there are no holds barred in the action sequences. What impressed me the most were the clever plot and sub-plot twists that I didn’t see coming, and I have no doubt will surprise and delight many readers. If high-octane thrillers with elements of mystery and intrigue are your reading fix, then this book will be right up your alley. I certainly enjoyed every aspect of this wonderful adventure and highly recommend it.

As police investigate the incident and review surveillance footage, they are curious about Kira’s actions, which are difficult to reconcile with the image of an average suburban wife and mother. Even more puzzling is the lack of information about Kira’s past, raising questions about who she really is and what she has been running from.

Dissonance by Aleksander Szeser is an extraordinary thriller. The writing grabbed my attention from the first page, and I had a hard time putting the book down. The action started at the beginning and never stopped. The pacing was fast, with enough surprises to keep me reading. Kira was a strong woman, and her past refused to stay buried. I was sure I knew who Kira was, but had to wait until the end to find out if I was right. Every character played their special part in the book; it couldn't have been such a success without all of them. The book was brilliantly written and had everything needed to keep me hooked throughout. The ending pulled the rug right out from under my feet. It was totally unexpected, and I loved it.
