Cold Fury is a romantic suspense novel written by Lindy Shannon. Derrick, Tyler and the rest of their team are hunting a serial killer who preys on women in the bitter cold. They're private contractors hired by the FBI to aid in tracking the killer down. Derrick is patrolling the area when he sees something small and dark huddled in the snow. When he approaches, he finds a small woman who's motionless and barely breathing. He gathers her up and brings her into the house where the team is staying. Fearing hypothermia, they quickly remove her cold and sodden clothing and settle her into a warm bath. They notice that she's covered in bruises and has cigarette burns on her arms. When she regains consciousness, she tells them a story about how a romantic weekend with her professor boyfriend suddenly turned into a nightmare.
Lindy Shannon's romantic suspense novel, Cold Fury, is exciting and fast-paced. Sarah's psychotic boyfriend is truly terrifying, and the story of his transformation from an urbane and polite gentleman into a sadistic and controlling monster is spooky and unforgettable. Derrick and his team are marvelous characters and their personalities and individual quirks are well-developed. I'm hoping to see this team at work again on other assignments as they're just too good a cast of characters to be limited to just one book. While there are sensual passages in Cold Fury, they are tastefully presented and were not at all offensive. Cold Fury is a fun read that blends psychological thrills with romance, and it works wonderfully. Cold Fury is highly recommended.
