Following the murder of Kestra, a member of the Nabukko camp, Eff is put behind bars on suspicion of the murder and two other prior murders. Her fate remains uncertain until Merula summons her and makes a shocking announcement. She offers Eff a science officer role, officially making her a member of the Nabukko community. Eff is made privy to a few secrets among the camp’s members, and learns about some possible truths surrounding the vague history of her and the camp’s existence on the strange planet. Merula orders a scavenging mission, mainly to accelerate planetary knowledge acquisition and understanding and increase the community’s survival chances. However, as the team, including Eff, sets out hiking, they’re about to encounter strange discoveries, and perhaps more disturbing, return to unexpected changes at the camp.
