In Paradon, the nobility had to prove their worth by bonding with a dragon in a ceremony. When Isiah fails to bond with a dragon after being rushed into the ceremony, he is left marked, a result of rejection by a dragon, and banished from Paradon. Having read about a legendary oasis that cures the mark, Isiah heads into the Badlands, a harsh desert land, in search of it. However, he faces raiders, treasure hunters who soar on eagles, and nomads, wanderers of the desert, both of whom are hostile to Paradon and its people. He must also watch out for dragon attacks, thanks to his mark. Will Isiah find what he is looking for, if he even survives the Badlands? Find out in Dragon’s Mark by Morgan Lee Clasper.
This novel will seize you by the scruff of the neck and drag you forward, only loosening its grip after the final word. If you are looking for a young adult epic fantasy flavored with adventure, action, suspense, and high-stakes drama, Dragon’s Mark by Morgan Lee Clasper is a must-read. With impressive world-building and visceral prose unfolding at a brisk pace, I was hurled into a chaotic and gritty world. It felt like I was in the unforgiving terrain of the Badlands, experiencing its brutal rhythm of life. It is not a land for the faint-hearted. Under scorching twin suns, betrayal, deceit, fear, theft, and secrets seem to be the currency for survival among the factions that roam the desert and Alcabaza, the city on a mountainside. Isiah must learn to put his trust in new allies and face his fears in his quest for a cure. This page turner is an incredible debut in the Chronicles of Alcabaza series. I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
