Author Biography

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with my husband, Gary. We enjoyed raising our three children on our farm, Joyful Noise Acres. It was a busy, fun time. Now we're loving retirement travel and being Grammy and Grandpa to our six dear grandchildren.

Some of my favorite activities are working in missions, dancing at outside concerts, playing the piano, crocheting prayer shawls, and rubbing Eli's ears (our golden retriever). But what I like best is riding my bike for miles on the winding country road close to our home. It parallels our creek and offers me a beautiful, quiet time to talk with and listen to God. I thank Him for giving me the words to write!

I believe God uses each of us in unique ways. After a career in pediatric physical therapy, God gave me the desire to pass along my faith to the next generation. Writing and sharing the Jesus story has now become quite the retirement adventure ... and I'm loving it!

If you're looking for a fun-filled activity book for your child to help put Jesus's teachings to everyday use, look no further, for Cathy D. Dudley's Faith, Family, & Fun does just that and more. With a primary focus on Jesus, Dudley provides helpful lessons for kids to develop their skills and attitude toward life by using real-life stories and connecting them to scripture, prayer, and fun activities designed to promote faith conversations. Each chapter and the accompanying story is complemented by catchy illustrations that can also be used as coloring pages. Some of the lessons include encouraging readers to seek out the meaning of one's name, appreciate the mysteries of the world by having faith in Jesus, ask others to tell them one real thing that is physically intangible, and much more.

Faith, Family, & Fun is a fun-filled activity book for kids that Christian families are bound to find helpful. Author Cathy D. Dudley methodically lays out lessons for kids covering each month of the year, with a special emphasis on holidays such as Easter and Christmas. The illustrations pop out of the pages and make readers immerse themselves in the real-life stories the lessons are drawn from. The author also provides a recipe for making Baking Soda White Clay Christmas Ornaments that should keep the kids entertained at Christmas while also giving them a joyful activity to express their overabundant imaginations. It makes them feel useful and involved during the holidays. I recommend Faith, Family, & Fun to Christian families raising little kids.

We want more! The format is wonderful for all ages: A real life story, a Bible passage, a Prayer, and Activity and something to relate all of this to your own life. Each chapter is short, simple and yet profound. Such a playful way to incorporate Faith and Family without being preachy! If you are not sure how to start a conversation about God with a child of any age, this will show you how easy it is. Just be "Present" with them. This is truly a “Precious Present” for you to share with someone you love.

I love how the book simply explains difficult concepts in a child-friendly manner. I love the simple activities suggested and pages to color! Who doesn't love to color? This is a great book to give as a Christmas present because it's all about Jesus. This book would open conversations about why Jesus came and what we are truly celebrating at Christmas. It would help answer many questions that children have. This is a keeper.

I like the fact that Cathy, the author, has written something faith related for parents and grandparents to read and activities to do together in their homes. I can see these being gifted to parents with young children as a tool to encourage faith talk. Cathy's passion for especially young ages to know Jesus and her love for Jesus surfaces when I look through the books.

Alberta G Richards

I bought this book for a friend who is home schooling and wanted to add bible teaching for her 3 children. This book is great. There are so many things that she can do with it like making copies of the coloring pages.

This book has both charm and liveliness. It is a wonderful foundation for Christian story-telling, the purpose of which is to encourage the love of Jesus Christ. Cathy Dudley's brief stories immediately bring youngsters in. Her suggested activities are enjoyable...and, yes, go right ahead and color the pictures! Talk about God's love. Both you and the children will be delighted by what this book encourages you to explore. I'm a grandfather of five young ones. I'm excited about Cathy Dudley's new book!

This is such a great resource for the children's ministry where I serve as the director. I love the simple fun illustrations, simple lessons (which require little to no prep), and the coloring pages. It is a great book for families to work through together on family nights and will help them build connections together and strengthen their relationship with Jesus. It is also a great resource for churches. It can be used in small groups with children, as a resource for parents, or as a gift for children as they reach milestones in the church. I highly recommend this book for children of all ages.

Cathy Dudley shows the reader how to stay close to God. The upbeat stories and drawings of real children will create a bond for the readers that will last forever, I believe. Color the drawings - who can resist? Faith, Jesus, a lost dog, a move to a different town are all topics that become clear and simple when Jesus is your friend. This is a fantastic book for readers of all ages, but especially for young children. The author achieves this magic with twelve monthly chapters, plus two more for Christmas and Easter. In each chapter the format repeats ways to include Jesus in everyday living. This book is a treasure!

James R Dudley

Understanding your audience is one of the most important parts of effective communications. And Cathy Dudley really understands the unique and amazing ways kids think, and she's used this insight to craft a truly impressive book about the Gospel that will immediately engage kids of all ages. The drawings are fun, the scenarios and stories shared really make Gospel concepts understandable, and most importantly the book is based on important, bedrock Christian lessons cover-to-cover. Highly recommend for any child!

What a fun book to share with my family! My family used this resource during the COVID-19 pandemic when our church was closed. On Sunday mornings we would read a devotional from the book. After a short, relatable story, there is a Bible verse, prayer, activity, and everyday living application. This would make a wonderful tool for Sunday school teachers, too. Bravo to the author for such creativity!

This book brings together all the elements of Jesus’ words … ‘let the children come unto me.’ Through engaging stories and artwork, children and adults alike are invited into life-changing conversation. Working in a ministry that provides emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness, I've seen firsthand how both parents and children benefit from this sweet book.

Laura Dunklin

Cathy Dudley has a big heart for sharing the love of Jesus with children and their families. It is so important for children to engage in faith conversations from an early age and this book is a great resource! With engaging, age-appropriate stories, fun activity plans, and prayers, Faith, Family, and Fun is the perfect book to encourage faith conversations about God's wonderful love for all!

Diane Glass

This book is so family friendly. It is a great way to teach children the Bible and understand it
with everyday life. After each chapter there is a prayer and activity to do that relates to the
chapter we read.
This book should be a must have to connect with your entire family spiritually.
