Finding Home is a work of fiction in the adventure, time travel, and romantic sub-genres, and was penned by author Christy Cooper-Burnett. The work is intended for the mature reading audience and contains some use of explicit language and moderate references to sex and violence but without graphic content. We find ourselves largely in Oklahoma, 1868, but in a time where Cyber Criminal Enforcement Agents have been able to start sending people back in time, either as a form of exile or in order to hide them safely away from the problems of the 2070s. So when Hannah Cole escapes to a new life on the frontier, she doesn’t expect to meet former prisoner Malcolm or to be engulfed in a wild and deadly adventure that threatens any future they might have.

Author Christy Cooper-Burnett has crafted a highly intriguing premise and really inviting concept for readers to wrap their heads around as this novel begins. I really enjoyed the details in the character presentation, especially in the way that futuristic characters from our current century would react to the ways of living back in 1868. The historical details are rich and cinematic, painting beautiful rustic vistas that enhance the romance atmosphere really well, but also showing the rough edges of the time period, which juxtaposes nicely and adds those dark shadows that the drama needs. The dialogue too was well balanced to deliver flavors of times gone by, but with modern sentiments that the reading audience can highly relate to. Overall, I would recommend Finding Home to fans of time travel, romance, clever concepts, and characters with detail and heart.
