Forensic investigator Nicole Li wakes up to three mutilated bodies on a rooftop. It is nothing like the Melbourne authorities have ever seen before. Two of the victims of what has now been concluded as a homicide are notorious drug dealers in the city. As if things could not get worse, Nicole is not thrilled to learn that Detective Superintendent Mike Slattery will be leading the investigations. His sexual advances are the last thing she needs. Barely a week after the incident and before the authorities can wrap their heads around the case, another murder is reported. However, all the facts in the cases suggest both murders were animal attacks. With an unknown killing machine on the loose and an egotistic bully for a lead detective, will Nicole get to the bottom of it all before it’s too late? Get yourself Stephen J Taylor’s Grotesque to know more.

If you love mystery murder novels laced with a touch of horror and crime, Stephen J Taylor’s Grotesque is just what you should be looking for. Taylor hatches an intriguing plot, with a compelling tale of romance, lust, deception, drugs, money, bar fights, love affairs, supernatural beings, and more in the storyline. He kept me on edge with suspense, action, thrill, and humor. Just when I thought I knew where the story was headed, the plot would take a huge but satisfyingly surprising turn that left me even more engrossed in the story. The vivid depictions of the scenes made the reading experience feel like watching a movie. Taylor brilliantly brings out the emotions and complex traits of the diverse and well-crafted cast. I loved how authentic he made them. Nicole is an intelligent, shrewd, investigator with an equally soft and fierce side.
