Healthy Sweets Cookbook by KJ Walt is a comprehensive collection of homemade desserts and sweet snacks. The book contains a wide variety of recipes. They range from cookies, brownies, pies, cheesecakes, and puddings to sweet breads, syrups, and snack mixes. It gives the reader a lot of choice. Many recipes include ingredients such as almond flour, oats, nuts, sweet potatoes, fruit, and unrefined sugar that offer alternatives to highly processed store-bought sweets. And this is particularly useful to me as I am eating gluten-free food. One of the other book's great strengths is its practicality. The author provides clear, step-by-step instructions, along with numerous tips for storage, freezing, substitutions, preparation, and personal thoughts. I also appreciated the emphasis on make-ahead options and batch cooking. Many recipes are accompanied by notes explaining texture variations, ingredient swaps, and serving suggestions, and this is increasingly relevant to most people.

Healthy Sweets Cookbook by KJ Walt is a fabulous cookbook, and much more than that. Indeed, it places a strong emphasis on nutrition. The author indicates the vitamins, minerals, protein, and other nutritional benefits associated with the ingredients used. As a mum and grandparent, I enjoyed the family-friendly nature of the recipes. As a teacher, I deeply appreciate the cookbook's educational value and how much we can all learn from it as we eat healthier food, including snacks and sweets. Many of us have stopped eating them, as the majority of store-bought sweets are made up to 50% sugar. That is why I warmly recommend this gem of a cookbook!

Blueberry maple water, skillet frosted cinnamon raisin bread, and so much more: all you need is a sweet tooth and the desire to eat sweet and eat healthily. KJ Walt’s Healthy Sweets Cookbook is a fascinating and mouth-watering selection of, you got it, sweet delights. But these sweet delights are made with healthier alternatives than most sweet recipes. For example, how about using almond flour instead of wheat flour? Or maple syrup instead of cane sugar? There’s even a recipe to help you make your own cream cheese and your own graham wafers! Or, how about a recipe to make fruit gummies? And there are cookie recipes that promote healthier skin.

KJ Walt’s book, Healthy Sweets Cookbook, is the first book in the Healthy Habits series, promoting healthier alternatives to highly processed sweets, especially for foods that you crave. The book is well laid out with a thorough index at the beginning to help you find the recipes easily. The recipes are presented in an orderly fashion, making preparation easier, and each includes a color photograph of the finished product, along with health notes on what makes it good for you. For example, the recipe for blueberry maple water notes the high antioxidants, potassium, and vitamin C in blueberries that help boost skin elasticity. In other words, as the author points out, “these properties transform water into skin-loving super-water!” This book is a great resource to help you enjoy the sweeter lifestyle of your choice without sacrificing your sweet treats because of various food allergies and intolerances.
